BUH Foundation Completes First Nine Holes on Virtual Tournament
June 1st 2020
North Battleford, SK – Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation kicked off the 2020 Virtual Wayne Pruden Memorial Golf Tournament (WPMGT) on Friday, May 15th and have now completed 9 of 18 holes. To complete each hole, $3,000 was raised through sponsorship, golfer registration donations and other donations. Proceeds will help to purchase new, up-to-date medical equipment for BUH.
“We are very pleased to have completed the first nine holes of the Virtual Tournament. It means a lot to us to have our sponsors and golfers continue to join us as we “golf” the course together, virtually, while raising funds for healthcare,” shares Claudette McGuire, Executive Director of BUH Foundation, “the WPMGT is a legacy and tradition in this community and the response has been excellent as we continue to golf in a new format.”
The first two holes were completed through the Master Sponsor, Innovation Credit Union. The momentum continued as long-time and new sponsors continued to sign on to support their community. The golfers, many of whom have golfed since the very first Tournament in 1997, continue to come forward and join in memory of Wayne.
“We encourage everyone to support our local businesses and are grateful for their support. We are proof that when you support local, it supports your community. Your dollars spent are now helping to enrich healthcare and be there when your family and friends need it. It comes full circle,” expresses Claudette, “we also want to thank our “golfers” who have stepped up so far and who recognize the importance of carrying on this tradition in support of healthcare, even during a pandemic.”
The 2020 Virtual WPMGT is hosted on BUH Foundation’s website, buhfoundation.com, where the progress on the virtual course can be followed, sponsors are recognized and participation opportunities are available. Further participation opportunities can be joined via BUH Foundation’s Facebook event page, Wayne Pruden Memorial Golf Tournament 2020.
The 24th WPMGT changed formats to abide by the current public health measures and to ensure the health and safety of the golfers and volunteers. The virtual WPMGT will take place until Friday, June 12th, when BUH Foundation Board of Directors and staff and the WPMGT Organizing Committee look to celebrate the completion of all 18 holes of the virtual course. If you would like to be a part of the 2020 Virtual WPMGT, please contact BUH Foundation’s office, 306-446-6652 or email sherry.krelow@buhfoundation.ca.

BUH Foundation has a WPMGT Golfer & Volunteer Pledge, as the dedicated and loyal participants have seen it all and golfed through anything and everything over the years. This pledge has been updated to mark the 2020 Tournament, because we know the Pruden golf family is there no matter what.

Volunteer Pledge

Not even a pandemic!
