BUH Foundation $100,000 Lottery

Each year Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation commits approximately $308,000 to purchase medical equipment for BUH from monies raised from four main fundraising events. For a number of years the Foundation has committed $190,000 from the $100,000 Cash Lotteries to purchase state-of-the-art medical equipment, giving patients and families the gift of hope and life.
Last year your Foundation Lottery proceeds purchased, among a number of items, a night medication dispensing system for the Emergency Room (ER) and an infant incubator for the Women’s Health & Birthing Centre (WHBC). The ER is one of the busiest departments in BUH and in 2012 received close to 35,000 patient visits. This piece of equipment, with its enhanced technology for medication dispensing ensured safe and prompt delivery of medications to many of these patients. The WH&BC had over 500 births last year and the infant incubator helped to maintain a protective and healing environment for many of our most vulnerable patients.

Proceeds from the 2013 $100,000 Lottery will support the purchase of a new $550,000 Digital Fluoroscopy Unit that is urgently needed for BUH’s Medical Imaging Department”, says Brenda Sparrow, BUH Foundation’s Board of Directors Chair.
A Digital Fluoroscopy Unit obtains real time imaging of a patient which then allows the Radiologist to observe organs and functional imaging of the body to provide accurate and timely diagnosis and possible life saving interventions.
The new feature to the 2013 Lottery will be computerized ticket receipts. No longer will you have to wait to have your ticket filled out when you come in person to purchase your ticket. This year the ticket application and 50/50 Enhancement will be completed, payment received and you will receive your Lottery ticket numbers and 50/50 Enhancement numbers by post.
Tickets will remain the same as in previous years at $40.00 each or three for $100.00, with only 14,000 available. They can be purchased at BUH Foundation’s Office, BUH Foundation’s Canteen/Gift Shop, and in the main lobby of BUH. Tickets can also be purchased by calling 306 446 6652 or toll-free 1 888 946 4284 (1 888 WIN 4BUH).
The 50/50 Enhancements are available at one for $10.00 or three for $25.00 and can only be purchased in conjunction with the $100,000 Cash Lottery ticket(s). The guaranteed minimum payout for the $100,000 Cash Lottery 50/50 Enhancement is $20,000. All winners names will be published in the Battlefords News-Optimist, announced on CJNB/Q98/The Rock and CJNS radio stations, as well as posted on BUH Foundation’s website www.buhfoundation.com.
