N.B. man takes home $100,000 grand prize

A North Battleford man had the winning ticket this year in the Battlefords Union Hospital Foundation $100,000 Cash Lottery.
The grand prize winner was Nelson Heidt of North Battleford. His winning ticket No. 9289 was pulled from the drum by BUHF chair Jerry Wintonyk at the cash lottery draw Wednesday in the lobby at Battlefords Union Hospital.
Shortly after his winning ticket was pulled out, Claudette McGuire phoned Heidt with the good news that he had won $100,000.
Heidt was just one of many winners on the day as 20 draws were made for $2,000 prizes. As well, there was a 50/50 winner drawn, the first year for that portion of the contest.
The 50/50 prize was won by Stanley and Darlene Iverson of Meota, with the winning ticket No. 62856. They win a hefty cash prize of $31,675.

In total it was a successful lottery even though it did not sell out this year. A total of 96 per cent of the tickets were sold. A god portion were sold in the final week.
The lottery is the chief fundraiser for BUHF with the money raised going towards equipment for the respiratory, therapy and laboratory units at BUH.
