Proceeds from the 2009 $100,000 Cash Lottery have been allocated towards the purchase of an Innovative Operating Room (OR) Suite. This suite is designed to augment the complex equipment used in the OR. It creates an organized, effective, and safe operating room allowing the Surgical Team ease of movement and complete focus on patient care during complicated surgical procedures. We all benefit from quality healthcare and to family and friends this means modern, efficient treatment close to home.

Proceeds from the 2007 $100,000 Cash Lottery along with a $100,000 contribution from BATC CDC were allocated towards the purchase of new automated, integrated chemistry system formally known as the Roche Cobas 6000 system, for the Lab at BUH. This equipment will assist lab personnel to test up to 600 blood samples per hour, which is a significant increase over the current rate. This new equipment also enables BUH Laboratory staff to keep up with the technological demand to provide more types of tests than are currently available. Test results are now available within 8 -12 hours, versus one week, allowing physicians and their teams to provide better patient monitoring.

The equipment for the new Renal Dialysis department at BUH in 2003.

The 2003 Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation $100,000 Cash Lottery was another early sell-out, helping the Foundation to raise $120,000 towards the enhancement of patient care.

"I would like to thank BUH Foundation for raising the money to help equip the dialysis unit. It used to take one and a half hours to drive to Saskatoon and then a short walk across the parking lot. Now it takes longer to walk across the parking lot at BUH than it takes to drive to BUH," commented Warren Suberlak, a patient of the dialysis unit. "The nurses here at BUH are fabulous."

An x-ray machine in 2002. In addition to the traditional type of x-rays, the new machine will enable radiologists to view via monitor live images of different parts of a patient's body. The radiologist can then take snapshots of areas of possible concern and digitally store those images. The images can then be viewed and enhanced to help aid in diagnosis. The laser printer and network system are essential components of the x-ray machine, allowing the x-rays to be viewed and printed from the radiologist's office.
