Recognizing BATC CDC
August 8th 2024
BATC Community Development Corporation (CDC) has supported Battlefords Union Hospital (BUH) Foundation since the CDC’s formation in 2007. It is the mission of BATC CDC to support the development of healthy communities. This is met on a continual basis as grants are provided to enhance projects, events and services to communities. Since 2007, BATC CDC has provided over $34,000,000 in grants to member First Nations, local charities and other non-profit organizations. Over $1,167,000 in funding has been provided to BUH Foundation from BATC CDC for new, up-to-date medical equipment through grants and sponsorship of special events. They have helped equip the Intensive Care Unit to care for the most critically ill; provided new technology for Women’s Health & Birthing Centre to provide the best start in life to newborns; and funded new equipment for the Laboratory to help create efficiencies and provide quick turnaround of results for diagnosis and treatment of patients, along with many other important and valuable pieces of equipment that have enriched healthcare for our communities. The CDC was created to facilitate the reinvestment of 25% of the net gaming funds from the Gold Eagle Casino back into local economies within the catchment area of the Casino. This includes the First Nations within Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs (BATC): Ahtahkakoop Cree Nation, Moosomin First Nation, Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man First Nation, Red Pheasant Cree Nation, Saulteaux First Nation, Sweetgrass First Nation & Stoney Knoll First Nation. It also includes independent First Nations: Chief Big Bear First Nation and Thunderchild First Nation, along with the City of North Battleford, Town of Battleford and communities within a 100km radius of The Battlefords.
